Benny's Journal - November 2008

“STOP, Don’t talk to me!”

This is Benny’s latest way of dealing with situations that don’t appeal to him.  For instance when he is stealing food out of the fridge and you ask him what he is doing; when you ask him if maybe he forgot to use the potty because of the fragrance you can smell in the air; when you discover his artwork on the walls instead of on a piece of paper………  It’s hard to keep a straight face and get mad and I guess it is better than him screaming but if anyone was ever in doubt as to who was in charge in this house, he’ll put you straight.

And Yes, Benny got a haircut.! I had to let go of the long hair because it was starting to look like a really bad comb-over. He lost a lot of hair due to radiation, mostly at the back of his head, but it also thinned out on top. It has all started to come back so I'm hoping now that it is all even the curls will grow back. He looks so grown up now....

I’ve finally updated photos on the website, there are lots, click on the photos of each one and it will take you to the slideshow of each event so you can scroll through.  The latest photos are of:

  • Halloween
  • Wedding
  • Benny Rocks Event
  • Make-A-Wish Trip to Eagle River

I hope you enjoy the photos, have a great weekend,
Love Lisa.

Are you looking for some special Holiday Cards this year?

THE CURE STARTS NOW is a foundation dedicated to finding cures for pediatric brain cancer.  It was established by the family of Elena Desserich who lost her battle to DIPG at just 5 years of age.  The holiday cards were designed by three wonderful kids: Andrew Smith from Michigan, Ellie Willaert from Minnesota, and Caleb Spady from Oklahoma. All three kids have the same diagnosis as Benny and have put their heart and soul into designing truly unique cards to represent The Cure Starts Now Foundation.  Please help us honor these kids, and every child battling brain cancer.  Proceeds go towards funding brain cancer research at respected children’s hospitals nationwide.

The holiday card pack contains 18 cards including a sampling of each of the 6 custom designed cards for $18. Each card tells a little bit about the child who drew the picture and about the need to fund pediatric brain cancer research. Shipping will begin on November 12th.  Please support brain cancer research while spreading holiday cheer.  Cards can be purchased at:
