Stable!

The radiologist report from today's MRI says the tumor looks unchanged. Our neuro-oncologist, Dr Stew, still has to take a look at the scans but hopefully he will concur. We are so happy!

Benny did a really great job today, he seems so grown up compared to a year ago. Thanks for all the love and support, it's working!

Love Lisa.

Goodbye 2008!

What a year! For me it’s been a year of my lowest lows and my highest highs. I think in your 30’s you begin to wonder where your life is taking you, so much has already been set in motion by the choices you made in your 20’s but you still feel like you could turn the car around and change course. Brendan and I have certainly lived a fortunate life and I don’t know where we are headed now, but 2008 will most certainly be one of the most defining years in my life, hard to forget. I grew up a lot this year and my eyes were opened wide to the reality of life. It’s been a roller coaster ride so far, we don’t dwell on the future; we just take each day as it comes and we still manage to laugh a lot. I now understand what raw emotions really are. I can cry at the drop of a hat but I also find so much joy in the simplest things. And I have to admit that seeing Benny dancing at the Wiggles concert may be one of the happiest days of my life!

Benny is still doing well, we all really enjoyed Christmas. When Benny came down the stairs in the morning he started ripping into all the presents under the tree and completely ignored his sack of toys from Santa. The girls quickly corrected him before too much damage was done. Once we did get stuck into the present opening it was a lot of fun, Benny exclaimed after he opened every present, “this is just what I wanted”, so easily satisfied!

His next MRI is scheduled for January 22nd. That will take us past our one year anniversary of diagnosis. He’s beating the odds and making us smile every day so we can only hope it continues. Today he took his pants off and stood on the chair shaking his booty and chanting, “look at my silly butt, look at my silly butt”. He is his father’s son! A good reminder to not take life too seriously.

We never imagined he would be doing so well at this point, we are so grateful for all the support and love everyone has sent our way. I’m sure 2008 has been a rough year for everyone, so it really is a Happy New Year, I’m glad it’s 2009, (but now can you stop time moving….)

Love Lisa.
